مدیریت دارایی‌ها ادامه روند توسعه دانش نگهداری و تعمیرات (نگهداشت) با تمرکز بر چرخۀ عمر دارایی​ها می‌باشد و امروزه به عنوان یک شاخۀ مهم در علم مدیریت و مهندسی شناخته می‌شود که سعی دارد با بکارگیری راهبردهای مدیریت دارایی، روش‌های مدیریت منابع انسانی، مدیریت تأمین تجهیزات، بهره‌برداری، نگهداشت، مدیریت قطعات یدکی، بهبود عملکرد، مدیریت ریسک، مدیریت هزینه، حداکثر ارزش ممکن را در بلندمدت از دارایی‌های سازمان بدست آورد.
دراین راستا سازمان جهانی استانداردسازی (ایزو) اقدام به تهیۀ استانداردهای جامعی دراین حوزه نموده است. کتاب حاضر ترجمه ای از این استاندارد ارزشمند است که میتواند راهگشای مشکلات سازمان ها و شرکت های کشور عزیزمان ایران در حوزه های مختلف نگهداری و تعمیرات و مدیریت دارایی های فیزیکی باشد.
سعید رمضانی، یکی از اعضای هیات مدیره انجمن نت ایران و عضو هیات علمی دانشگااه امام حسین(ع) است. وی در زمینه نگهداری و تعمیرات فعالیت دارد. از ایشان کتاب دیگری با نام " واژگان و اصطلاحات علمی نگهداری و تعمیرات" که ترجمه استاندارد Maintenance Terminology: EN 13306 : 2010 می باشد، به چاپ رسیده است.
